Pailin and Battambang Provincial Authorities Demarcate Unclear Boundaries

PAILIN: Battambang Provincial Governor, Sok Lou, and Pailin Provincial Governor, Ban Srey Mom, led a delegation of relevant officials from the main provincial departments to inspect the land between the two provinces, particularly at Samlot district (adjacent to Pailin city) and Kom rieng district (adjacent to Sala Krao district) to verify and demarcate the provincial borders clearly.

The visit took place on Tuesday, 18 October, after the two provincial governors received a warning from Prime Minister Hun Sen to complete the land demarcation work soon.

Speaking at the graduation ceremony for more than 6,000 students of the National University of Management on Monday morning, 17 October, the Prime Minister told Battambang Governor Sok Lou, and the Governor of Pailin, Ban Srey Mom, that if this issue cannot be solved within two weeks, he will come in person to solve this matter at once.

"This land is not being cut for foreigners, it is an integrated settlement village, with some settled in Pailin and some settled in Battambang," said the Prime Minister. "In Battambang, the land is very big, so cut a few thousand hectares and give it to Pailin. For people who register to vote there, they can have their names transferred to the constituency outside Battambang, to Pailin."

The people living in the prior mentioned districts have expressed happiness after receiving a solution from the two provincial authorities, and thanked the Prime Minister for urging the authorities to take such measures.
